To Mrs. Shepherd

'Nuff Said.

Mantis- Grantham Boy

Yesterday, a little boy in the 4th grade at Grantham School here in Wayne County, NC, was hit by a car on his way to the bus.

He was taken to the hospital, where he passed on today.

Please pray for his family.

I am Already Sick of This....

Jay Leno- "Rosewood Middle School: Cash For Flunkers"

Bev Perdue- "If the Wayne County Board doesn't handle it- I will"

The RMS Students- "It's weird"
"Media and Board people keep asking us questions and stuff"
Random Call to RMS- "Can I enroll my kid? I heard they can buy grades there".

Our community is in distress.
This is so terrible.
I am positive that none of the parents or staff meant this.
We were published in the New York Times, Hawaii Daily, and Raleigh News and Observer before the story even hit our local paper, The News Argus.

It's disgusting.
I am outraged.
Mrs. Shepherd should not have to resign.
This is stupid.

Even staff and parents agree.
They have said...
"I am proud to send my kids there"
"Proud to work for RMS"
"I love Mrs. Shepherd to death"

Wanna know what I have to say?

Praying Mantis- Mrs. Greenup and Family

Please pray for my English teacher, Mrs. Greenup, and her family.

Today during class, the phone rang.

When Mrs. Greenup answered she found out that her father in law had had a stroke.

She left school as soon as possible.

Please pray.

Rosewood Middle School.... I went there

So everyone has probably heard about the 'fundraiser' at Rosewood Middle School.

It's been on Jay Leno.
It's been published in newspapers throughout the country (including the New York Times).

It's the middle school I went to.
The one my mother drops kids off at everyday on her bus.
The one I see every day.

The principal is the same woman that was assistant principal when I was there.

Please don't get me wrong on this.
I DO NOT agree with what went on at RMS.
20 points for 20 bucks is definately not the way to go- with fundraising or test scores.

However, I must say that I know some these people personally.

These people are wonderful people with great kind hearts.

They most likely thought nothing of this, and had they realized what they were doing, probably wouldn't have done it.

Just to state my personal opinion on some things that have been said...

I don't think for one second that the principal should lose her job.
AND
I don't think that anyone on that Parent Advisory Committtee should be in jeopardy.

Thank You.
That is all for now.

Still Praying for Stellan

Many of you remember Stellan, the baby with SVT that I've mentioned here and on Praying Mantis. He's back in the hospital, and he and his family need our prayers.

I decided to post my favorite two pctures from 'Stellan Cereal' again.

I am doing this to remind Stellan and family of how much we all love and support them.

Please keep this precious baby boy in your hearts and prayers.

Thank You.

God Bless.

Deflect- Scribe Scuffle for November

Deflect. This just might be the most serious Scribe Scuffle entry I have ever typed.
And I am already deflecting.

This is the perfect word to do a Scribe Scuffle on. Especially since I have been looking for a way to say what is to follow in this post for quite some time now. Again, I deflect.

On with the point.

Deflect. As a teenager, I do it. A lot. Whether it's that my mind deflects from the assignment I'm doing in school to think of that cute boy that I saw the other day, or that I deflect from cleaning my room to blog... But the most important thing that I deflect from is God.

I go to church.
I miss Sunday mornings sometimes.
More than I would like to, because I stay up Saturday night and fail to hear the alarm clock.
But I go on Sunday nights to Illuminate.

We talk about God.
How He loves us and we love Him.
How to be Holy.
How to be an example.

Typical things teens talk about at church.

One thing that sticks out in my mind is deflecting.

Jared talks about it a lot.
How we tend to get distracted by things like gossip or the opposite sex , or sports, or material items, or our friends...
How when we are distracted we forget to ask ourselves what would Jesus do.
How easy it is to be deflected from the path toward God.

I read my Bible and I read the Bible to my baby sister.
We pray and I pray for others.

Still I am defelcted.
It is so easy to be deflected.
It's from temptation.
Peer Pressure.
Wanting to look cute when I know that certain boy is going to be around.

It also comes from the heat of the moment.
When Savannah makes me mad and I yell at her.
Or I smart off to mom.
I don't think about how I forgot to ask the question or how I have taken a turn away from Jesus until after the fact.

I try to help others so that they don't deflect.
I'm still trying to help myself.

Deflection is dangerous.
Especially when your eternity is on the line.

And it's like Pastor Jared and Pastor Ferrel say.
It is so much easier to drift away from God than to swim to Him.

I am not afraid of much.
I don't fear death.
I fear the dark.
I fear rollercoasters.
I fear horror movies.
I fear deflection.

I feel that I am getting better at staying on my path towards the Lord.
I will continue to work hard so to avoid deflection.

Thank you, Mrs. Sarah for the opportunity to write this post.
I feel that it will help not only me, but others who will read it.

So much to blog about... So little time...

-November 3rd was Savannah's Big 6
I have photos from the family get together but I am going to wait and post them Sunday after the Fun Center party Saturday.

-Papa had one of his surgeries a few days ago (the one for diabetic reasons) and as far as I know he is doing well.

-Dalton was Santa for Halloween! How cute is that?!?!

-The new word came out for Scribe Scuffle.
That's my next post!

Treat Jesus Like You Do Your Cell Phone

So, today is Monday.
I usually doa Music Monday for Mrs. Tara at Keeping Up With The Kelly's, but this week I have something I want to share.

Recently, our youth group, Encounter Student Ministries (ESM), has changed the Wednesday night meeting to Sunday. We meet from 6-8 and we call it Illuminate.

Last night we talked about who God is in our lives.

Pastor Jared gave us a really great example that I just can't get out of my head.

What if God was your cell phone?

You have this amazing phone. It does everything. You can call, text, get online, take pictures and video, send pictures and video, bluetooth, everything. Jared told us he knew we didn't just leave our phones in the car for emergency only. He also said that that's probably how some of us trest Jesus. We have this amazing being that can do anything, yet we call on him only when we are sick or hurt or want something or someone we know has something going on. Then he left us with this:

How would your life be different if you didn't carry that phone everywhere you went?
How would your life be different if you truly lived for Jesus?

I want to hear your answers.
Comment Party?
